MI
Public Funders Dialogue

The Public Funders Dialogue (PFD) was launched to provide a global forum and space for public RD&I funders in the MI community to share experience and knowledge, develop joint understanding, discuss common challenges in the public RD&I funding space as well as to and to engage in joint activities (e.g. to facilitate scoping of future calls).

The forum is also open to public funders and funding networks beyond the MI community who share similar Research and Innovation priorities.

Currently the PFD focuses on coordination and mobilization of funders to the MICalls, which is developed in collaboration between the MI Missions and two large funding networks: Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership) and DUT Partnership (DUT).

Previous activities of the MI PFD:

  • Public Funders Dialogue 2

The meeting presented experiences from earlier MICalls, invited participants to join the MICall21 which included the themes “climate neutrality of urban neighbourhoods and the concept of Positive Energy Districts.” Moreover, a collaboration opportunity Mission Innovation Mission on Green Powered Future (GPFM) was presented.

  • Public Funders Dialogue 3

The meeting started with an overview of Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership) and Driving Urban Transition Partnership (DUT), funding mechanisms for MICall22. It also highlited the status of the MICall22 and examples of collaboration opportunities with MI Missions (Net Zero Industries Mission).

This side event started with an announcement of a strenghtened, formalized collaboration between Mission Innovation, the CETPartnership the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership, through a Letter of Intent, followed by compelling insights into how we can synergize global efforts, showing how collaboration amplifies individual initiatives' impact, by Rosalinde van der Vlies (EU Commission Clean Planet Director) and Helen Fairclough (MI Secretariat).

A standout moment was BloombergNEF's overview of the Energy Transition Factbook 2024, which set the perfect backdrop for imagining the world in 2035, reflecting on the progress we’ll make toward a sustainable energy future, which was the topic of the panel dialogue, gathering representatives from the Brazilian Private Sector, Climate High-Level Champions, Mission Innovation as well as the funding networks CETPartnership and DUT.
